What is what to do when you forget your apple watch password?

If you've forgotten your Apple Watch passcode, you'll need to erase and reset your watch. Here's how:

  • Erase your Apple Watch: This is the primary method for resetting your watch when you've forgotten the passcode. There are two ways to do this:

    • From your iPhone: If your watch is in range of your iPhone, you can use the Watch app to erase it. Go to the Watch app, then: General > Reset > Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings. You may need to enter your Apple ID password.

    • On the Apple Watch: If you don't have your iPhone, or it's not connected, you can attempt to erase directly from the watch. This requires several attempts at entering the wrong passcode until an "Erase Apple Watch" button appears. Follow the on-screen instructions. Note: This option may not be available on all watch models or software versions.

  • Restore from Backup (Optional): After erasing, you can restore from a backup to regain most of your data and settings. Choose the most recent backup available. If you didn't back up regularly, some data might be lost.

  • Set up as New: If you don't have a backup, or prefer a fresh start, you can set up your Apple Watch as new. This means you'll need to reconfigure all your settings and preferences.

  • Pairing Again: Whether you restore from a backup or set up as new, you'll need to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone again. Follow the prompts in the Watch app on your iPhone.

  • Prevention: To avoid this issue in the future, consider writing down your passcode in a secure location that you won't forget or choosing a passcode that is memorable for you but not easily guessable by others. However, Apple does not provide a method to bypass the passcode without erasing the device, for security reasons.
